Welcome to AFS

A joyful, high-quality start to your child's education

Al Fajer Private School (AFS) is a non-profit, coeducational school dedicated to giving local and expatriate children a joyful, high-quality start to their education. Licensed by the Bahrain Ministry of Education, we offer a bilingual programme from Kindergarten to Grade 6, where children learn English and Arabic side by side, with early exposure to French.

Through this — and a rich mix of activities and field trips — our students gain an experience that is genuinely unique among schools in Bahrain, learning to cherish Bahraini culture while growing into respectful, open-minded global citizens.

English & Arabic, side by side — with early French

From their very first days, children at AFS learn in both English and Arabic, building two strong languages at the age when young minds absorb them most naturally. Early exposure to French opens the door to a third.

  • A dual American + Bahrain MoE curriculum, taught with warmth
  • Confident bilingual foundations for reading and writing
  • Children who cherish Bahraini culture and think globally

How we measure progress
Our values

The heart behind everything we do

Reflected in our blue and gold crest, our values shape how children learn, treat one another, and grow.

Loyalty & integrity

Honesty, kindness and trust sit at the heart of our community — the blue in our crest, a reminder to be true to ourselves and to one another.

Intellect, optimism & creativity

Curiosity, a sunny outlook and imagination — the gold in our crest — light up every classroom and inspire children to explore the world with confidence.

A message from our Principal

A place where first steps are guided with warmth

For more than a decade, AFS has been a place where young children take their very first steps in learning — steps guided with patience, warmth, and high expectations. From KG1 through Grade 6, we give every child a confident foundation in English and Arabic, an early love of French, and the curiosity to explore the world with kindness.

We believe a great primary education is about far more than academics; it is about character. Our students learn loyalty and integrity, and are encouraged to be optimistic, creative and thoughtful — values we hold as dearly as reading, writing and numeracy. We see parents as partners in every child's journey, so that each student feels known, safe, and inspired to do their best.
